During Sept /Oct 2024 The Berkshire Bodgers raised their new woodland bodgers workshop structure.

The team overcame inclement weather to succeed in their praiseworthy endeavour.

At the end of October 2024 the bodgers fitted profiled steel sheets to the roof to create a dry working area within the new bodging shed.

Well done and congratulations to the team !

Following clearance of a shaded area in the woodland next to the new Bodgers workshop.
An antique 150 year old "shandy" barrow was used to scatter wildflower seeds to aid recovery.

The plan to improve the presence of wildflowers in the woodland margins might well be thwarted by deer seen to inhabit the woodland.

By May 2025 The Berkshire Bodgers shed has now developed a lived in look.

It accomodates a large work bench / table and other jigs and devices together with :-

A good covering of woodchip and shavings has now overcome the early issue of a muddy floor and surrounds.

On a cold damp 2026 January winters day The Berkshire Bodgers are now making good use of their new bodgers shed to make spoons, chair legs, enjoy fireside chats, etc.

Image

It was interesting to observe over 20+ people in lunch time attendance including, men, women & children which demonstrates how this facility and activity has been put to good community use helping to provide and promote social cohesion.

Image

By late afternoon the throng had somewhat reduced with mainly the Berkshire Bodger stalwarts remaining.

Preparatory work to make hazel stakes for this seasons hedge laying project is underway.

Do they need a bigger shed !
