Oxfordshire Woodland Group

During late September / early October the bright yellow Pale Tussock Moth Caterpillar can be seen at ground level in the woodland as it seeks a place to pupate and overwinter.

The hair is an irritant and so contact with same should be avoided and certainly not touched with bare hands.

It is very distinctive with a bright green tufted tail.
