Post Building in Woodland

There is much discussion on various web forums about building in woodland and a perception appears to exist that this is contrary to planning regulations and so when I chanced upon this photo of a beautiful thatched timber framed building located on the margins of a woodland, shrouded by autumnal mists, I was quite taken by how the natural beauty of this building was enhanced by it's woodland setting (and vice-versa).

Mike B of Denmark managed to capture a shot of this nice woodland margin thatched timber-framed building on a rather grey winters morning. This building is an example of true vernacular building design and construction with the timber likely to have been obtained from the woodland behind the building and the thatch from the field in front of same with the watttle and daub panel infill being a clay / straw mix obtainable from the surrounding land. It would appear that true sustainable building design and construction is possible in this type of setting.

On the Small Woodland Owners Group [SWOG] forum there is a topic providing confirmation of acceptability or otherwise for building structures in woodlands with various planning authorities.
