Here are a couple of pics of wind damage to a 100ft high Eurpean larch tree.

It has taken us over a year but yesterday Andrew Jarvis felled the hung up split larch tree. This has been slowly yielding at its base due to crumbling core rot, splits and tree lean.

The larch tree has now yielded a good 5 metre log that is destined for a child's high adventure walkway and so it will have a sawn flat top. The 2 metre log will be quartered to make waist rails for the garden office timber frame.

The 2m larch log was quartered to make waney edged waist rails. The rails are perfectly flat and full width on 2 good faces forming a perfect aris for framing. This technique is known as squeezing the log ! The wane is positioned insitu on the inside and underside of the rails.
