Following the layout, scribing, cutting of cross sill tenons and long sill mortices and then the trial fitting of mortice and tenon joints the sill frame was pulled together using hand winches (come-a-longs)

together with a few thumps with a big sledge hammer.

Some final re-alignment of the sill frame on the framing floor is required to correct movements of same that had to be made to offer up and insert cross sill tenons into the long sills mortices.

The long sills were marked up and cut to provide a cogged joint on top of which the foot of each cruck blade will sit with a mating slot cut in the underside of the cruck foot.

This joint will help to resist the outward thrust directed by the cruck blades to the sills.
