Robin Fawcett's green woodworking shelter is made from nice straight ash poles with a tarpaulin cover and gravel filled tyre foundation.

It might be a good idea to remove the tarpaulin during winter to reduce wind sail area.

The Royal Forestry Society has discovered a novel use for 24 year old close grown Norwegian spruce trees growing in their Hockeridge woodland in The Chiltern Hills.

These thinings have been felled and pealed to make tipi poles.

Traditionally lodgepole pine was employed for this end use as these tend to grow in impenetrable thickets.
