OWG attended an agro forestry demonstration day on the Berkshire Downs in Nov 2024 where 30 years of practical experience gained from using this approach was ably demonstrated by James Ackworth & William Hamer.

This technique involves splitting then land into long wide strips populated by rows of trees such that either grazing by animals and / or cultivating wild flower meadows grown for haylage and improved biodiversity.

This process requires combining both agriculture (DEFRA) and forestry (FE) grant and legislative control bodies where overlaps between same are still in development and hence the future management of same is not yet fully defined for those considering pursuing this option.
