Spoonclub is not intended as a formal teaching forum but more simply to allow folk to share their knowledge, skills and understanding on such matters where persons might need guidance and for this reason sessions are not limited to carving spoons. It’s also for those that have experience of greenwood craft at some level to carve together and to enjoy the craft and share thoughts on tools, techniques and opinions on worldly matters. You don’t have to be an expert, but an understanding of safe working techniques using razor sharp edge tools is required.
Spoonclub spoons :-
Carving starts anytime from 09:00 and continues until the last person leaves !
Please bring your own tools to use or let us know in advance if you’d like to borrow some as this can be arranged but this might require notice. One of the benefits of carving with others is being able to see and try unfamiliar tools as well as getting recommendations for tools to purchase / acquire.
Chopping blocks are available at Spoonclub or you can bring your own if you prefer. The Oxfordshire Woodland Group can provide quality hardwood or softwood chopping blocks in exchange for a modest donation made to The Group. These can be uplifted from Spoonclub or the OWG woodland in South Oxforshire.
