Oxfordshire Woodland Group

2020 was a mast year for oak trees. The acorns on the track at our woodland entrance were raked up and barrowed to a part of the woodland that could do with a few more oak trees. This heap probably contained about 30,000 acorns.

It was planned to scatter these acorns in the woodland however mother nature had different ideas and so towards the end of January 2021 the acorn pile had almost disappeared with only compost remaining to be picked over by robins.

This might be a good way to help establish a better mix of trees within the woodland.
