This book was written by the original and sadly much missed Oxfordshire Woodland Project Manager. It goes a long way to helping the average woodland owner, whether he or she is a woodland professional or absolute beginer aiming to maintain and improve an existing woodland. Ken Broad used his extensive knowledge of woodlands to produce this excellent book that anyone should be able to understand & follow.

This book was first published by Routledge [ISBN-13: 978-1853834547] in 1998 and is still available in reprint form from The Oxfordshire Woodland Group (see below).

Ken Broad was the former Oxfordshire Woodland Group Project Manager who pioneered the planting of small woodlands in Oxfordshire with one of his key achievements being the planting of " The Broad Arboretum" at The Northmoor [Earth] Trust, Little Wittenham, Oxon.

This was celebrated in 2008 by the unveiling of a special plaque at the trust by his widow and daughter
