Tindall's Cottage was raised at The Weald & Downland Open Air Museum during September 2012 and work has since proceeded to finish the building over the intervening period. The cottage frame was repaired by the museum carpenter Joe Thompson with additional help from Steve Turner and Herbert Russell.

This timber-framed cottage contrasts and yet blends perfectly with the the Sussex countryside to create an enhanced rural vernacular scene.

Tindall's Cottage has a 2 bay timber-frame with chimney bay.

The cottage chimney bay gable end with projecting small oven and view over the estate.

The cottage has a catslide roof to the rear that helps reduce both its visual and aerodynamic profile.

The cottage interior timbers and wattle & daub wall panels has been limewashed.

The roof is covered with peg tiles sitting on top of sweet chestnut split lath made by Herbert Russell.

This timber-framed cottage demonstrates how it is possible to build sustainably in open countryside without despoiling same.
