Oxfordshire Woodland Group

An excellent article by Pat Preece of the South Oxfordshire Archaeological Group was first published in SOAG Bulletin No.58 (2003) on the historic production of coppice fuel wood from woodlands in South Oxfordshire for both the domestic and tile making industries.

Pat provides lots of definitions of the metrics used for the production and sale of fuelwood and makes the point that large timber was not produced from this area until the early 1800's.
